Greg Grandell - Department Chair | Mr. Grandell has been teaching at West Valley High School since 1989. Greg is also the head football coach of the Eagles. Roni, his wife, teaches Dance. Daughters Whitney and Brianna dance at their mother's dance company in Cottonwood, The Cottonwood Community Dancers. Whitney & Brianna also help dad on the sidelines at Eagle football games. Scott Fairley | Scott Fairley received his B.A. and teaching credential from CSU, Chico in 1980. He began teaching at West Valley High School in 1983 where he has taught both mathematics and English. During his tenure at West Valley, Fairley has coached cross country, wrestling, and track and field. He is currently chairman for the Northern Section's Track and Cross Country Committee. Roni Grandell | Mrs. Grandell is a graduate of Anderson High School. She earned a minor in Dance from California State University, Chico, and her BA in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. Roni holds California Secondary Teaching Credentials in both Physical Education and English, also earned at Azusa Pacific. She taught P.E., College Fitness, and managed a health club in Southern California before moving to Cottonwood. Mrs. Grandell started teaching a single dance class at West Valley fiften years ago, and now teaches four classes - three of dance and one of PE. She recently sold her dance studio of 17 years to focus her efforts on the bettering of the West Valley dance program. Julie White | Ms. White is currently studying in Spain, but will be back with us next year. This is her third year teaching at West Valley. In 2000, she graduated from Corning High School and went on to attend Butte College for two years. After that, she went to CSU Hayward for two more years, where she got her BA in Spanish and minored in sociology. To get her California Teaching Credential, Ms. White attended CSU Chico for one year as well. Just this fall, she has started a Master's Degree Program in Teaching International Languages, with an emphasis on Spanish. At both Butte College and CSU Hayward, Ms. White played basketball. She now coaches JV grls' basketball and has coached JV volleyball in the past. She enjoys watching and playing al sports, especially basketball, voleyball, and softball. No matter how interested she is in sports ,though, travel is her true passion!
