Dan Button - Department Chair | Dan Button graduated from San Francisco State University in 1983 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. He did some post-graduate work in Chemistry at San Francisco State in 1984. After working in the Chemical Dependency field for eight years, he returned to San Francisco State University in 1989 and received his Single Subject Teaching Credential in Life Sciences and Chemistry. Mr. Button taught two years in the Bay Area before moving to the north state. Before coming to West Valley, he taught science for three years at Hamilton High School in Hamilton City. Currently, he is teaching Biology and Chemistry at West Valley. His hobbies include amateur astronomy, golf, reading, and baseball. Tom Safford | Tom Safford is the newest addition to West Valley's Science Dept. He attended Corning High School, where he excelled at sports.He received his bachelor's degree in biological science from CSU Chico. Tom Wyrick | Mr. Wyrick was born in South Laguna Beach, CA in 1967, but shortly thereafter moved to the Redding area. He graduated from Shasta High School in 1986, and went on to UC Berkeley, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1992. He went back to school in 1996 to get his teaching credentials, and minors in geology and physics at CSU Chico. After receiving his credentials, he taught at West Cottonwood Junior High School for a year before moving to the Anderson Union High School District in 2000. The school year of 2002-2003 Mr. Wyrick began teaching at West Valley. Mr. Wyrick and his wife, Amber, have a son, Layton, and a daughter, Crosby (what a sweet name). Mr. Wyrick has been coaching the boys and girls tennis teams since the 2003-2004 school year.
